Huffington Post: Liberal Politics, Sexist Entertainment – The Sexist – Washington City Paper

It’s no secret that The Huffington Post fancies itself a left-leaning Web rag. Wikipedia describes Arianna Huffington’s aggregatorial monster as “an American liberal news website.” Conservapedia’s definition, however, might be more helpful: “The site is an extreme mouthpiece for liberals,” it reads. “The Huffington Post calls itself an internet newspaper of blogs, news and video but often is referred to as a hate site where its one-sided news cannot be trusted.”
But even HuffPo’s liberal readership gets tired of hating on conservatives sometimes, guys. Sometimes, they just want to sit back, relax, and look at accidentally bare nipples—just like the rest of America. This one-sided liberal hate site has one fatal weakness—boobs. Let’s check out some recent stories from the Huffington Post’s entertainment section:

Reaching the NBA Finals is the pinnacle of NBA success, so it makes sense that players who have played in the NBA Finals would reach the pinnacle of wife or girlfriend success as well. After watching game one of the NBA Finals it appears as if we might as well focus on NBA Finals WAGs because they’re much more entertaining than the series is gonna be.

Will Craigslist’s New Stance on Adult Ads Save Alt-Weeklies? – City Desk – Washington City Paper

Last year Craigslist, which lists 18 employees on its “about us” page, made somewhere between $20 and $80 million dollars. So why is its CEO, Jim Buckmaster, so p.o.’d about sex ads in alt-weeklies?
Because these bottom-feeding free publications are making an erotic comeback in the classifieds biz, with an assist from law enforcement.
Buckmaster has even taken to the blogosphere to air his frustrations with alt-weekly encroachment. In a recent post, he lists several titles of adult ads he found on backpage.com, a collection of classifieds sites owned by Village Voice Media (VVM). “Cum lay your hotdog on my bun for memorial day” (Dallas); “Let me put you to bed backdoor available $80″ (Columbia, S.C.); “An Irish blowjob and a cum showering rainbow” (New York). He links to a screenshot of the last ad, which has photos of a woman performing fellatio.

I’m always up for a figurative orgy of conservative pundit-bashing, but this Playboy piece is after something a bit more literal. Author Guy Cimbalo counts down the top 10 most fuckable conservatives, from Michelle Malkin to Laura Ingraham — though don’t worry, he hates them, too. Cimbalo managed to get one or two guilty smiles out of me, but the overall effect is beyond creepy. Cimbalo seems to think he’s shielded himself from obvious criticism by wildly overshooting the target. If bashing conservatives makes sexism okay, irony makes it even more so; Cimbalo can’t be a genuine misogynist if his jokes are so hep, dig?
Of TownHall columnist Amanda Carpenter, Cimbalo writes, “The Hate Fuck Rating: This foul temptress is a walking, talking Faustian fuck bargain.” Michelle Malkin is a “highly fuckable Filipina” and a “Beelzebabe.” And “The View”’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck is just begging for defilement: “She’s the clean-cut American sweetheart who elicits our filthiest thoughts. Endlessly perky, this golden goddess probably has her Catholic school uniform still in the closet, and she wouldn’t mind putting it on before taking it off for a session of sweaty, anti-American hate fucking.”
Usually, I don’t go in for declaring certain jokes off-limits, but at some point, this passes from gross into vile. Cimbalo is also playing right into the hands of the conservatives he claims to hate, becoming not so much a critic of Michelle Malkin’s reactionary ideas as an accessory to them.

Anna Wintour Won’t Put Rihanna On A Vogue Cover After Leaked Nudie Photos | The Frisky

It’s no secret that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is the Darth Vader of fashion. (Remember that “60 Minutes” segment where she fessed up to telling Oprah to drop twenty pounds for her 1998 Vogue cover and then called chubby Minnesotans “little houses.”) But Anna has reached a whole new level of meaniness. According to Rihanna’s close friend, Wintour had been talking to Rihanna about doing a Vogue cover for weeks. At the Met Costume Gala on May 4th, Wintour supposedly told RiRi that Vogue “absolutely loves her and really wanted to work with her.” But as soon as nude photographs of Rihanna (maybe?) were leaked on the internet, Wintour stopped returning Rihanna’s calls.
Obviously, Rihanna is super disappointed as the cover would have been a huge deal—and not just for her career, but because so few black women (i.e. six) have graced Vogue‘s cover, including Michelle Obama, Jennifer Hudson, Halle Berry, and Beyonce. [Celebitchy]
