Because I want to see what this whole jail thing is all about, here’s Miley Cyrus’ in Miami today proving there should be a law against 17-year-old girls working out. I’m serious, if they’re off-limits for an entire year, they shouldn’t be allowed near a gym. That’s like telling a bear not to eat a deer only to turn around and slather one in salmon and Snickers bars which is probably the creepiest metaphor I’ve ever come up with. No one look at me right now.

So you want to be the “Best Ever Celebrity Viral Ad.” You could be Kobe Bryant jumping over a car. Or Nicole Kidman pushing perfume. Oh, who are we kidding? Be a fox writhing around on furniture wearing high-end underpants.

When the media distributor Go Viral named the greatest spot of all time this week, the winner was an 8-year-old commercial for Agent Provocateur lingerie featuring singer Kylie Minogue, a soundtrack by the Hives and a plush, velvet-covered mechanical bull. (Just curious: Where can you get one of those?) In it, the singer sets out to prove the lingerie is “the most erotic” in the world, and by golly, it’s convincing. Last winter, the clip was also named the greatest cinema ad in a poll by Digital Cinema Media.

The ad, which was shown only in theaters, beat out Sarah Silverman‘s ode to doing it with Matt Damon, Ellen Feiss’ trippy Apple ad, and even the iconic Obama campaign‘s “Yes We Can.” It’s clocked in at 350 million views on YouTube and counting. Take THAT, will.i.am!

Is American rapper Foxy Brown using a “leaked” sex tape (tentatively entitled, Superhead) as a marketing tool? According to Examiner.com, perhaps, and the leakage is may be a new trend:

But we do have to at least consider such a possibility: it’s not been unusual for alleged sex tapes or nude photos to turn up just before the release of a movie, the release of an album, by some comely young woman. Topless pictures of Megan Fox were “leaked” just before Transformers 2 this summer and Vanessa Hudgens latest non High School Musical project’s release seemed to conjure lightly clad photos of her from out of the ether.

When the hen a sex tape surfaces, a new offering from the star of said tape is eminent. Not so this time. Brown is slated to release an album, but not until December. So, is this super-forward thinking or did girlfriend just get played?

Oops! She did it again. Miley Cyrus has stirred up controversy with another raunchy magazine photo shoot. This time, the 16-year-old has traded the bed-head, sheet-wrapped look of her Vanity Fair photos for tight cleavage-boosting leather on the cover of Elle magazine, alongside the declaration that “she’s not a kid anymore.” Inside the August issue she’s pictured reclining on a table wearing sexy thigh-high “hooker boots,” as one blogger put it. Just as with the Annie Leibovitz shots of last year, some folks are downright apoplectic. So begins yet another chapter in our tome of hypocrisy toward young female sexuality.

The outrage has so little to do with her being sexualized and everything to do with the way she’s being sexualized. We’re all too happy to see her clad in a girly frock and schoolgirl socks — however, black thigh-high boots, and a black pushup bra? Horrors, that’s a child! But in both cases she’s an eroticized 16-year-old celebrity who has been very successfully marketed and sold to the masses. It’s the straightforwardness of the sexual imagery in the Elle photos that trips our cultural inappropriateness alarm. Instead of sexualizing her childlike innocence and naiveté, it pictures her as a sexually motivated and experienced teenager (similar to the apparently outrageous bedsheet photo). Miley has crossed that fine cultural line between sexy purity and sexiness that is actually sexual.

It’s like we’ve burst in on her in the dressing room of Victoria’s Secret while she’s practicing seductive poses in the mirror; she’s gone for everything lacy and black and tight, the most overwrought and obvious sexual signaling available. Or, as Salon’s Sarah Hepola exclaimed to me: “Those are the boots of a 38-year-old woman in midlife crisis!” That isn’t to tease her — hell, who hasn’t been there and done that? Girls often strut down the runway to womanhood dressed as a caricature of adult sexuality, stumbling and tugging at ill-fitting clothes and errant bra straps as they go. Unlike Miley, though, most of us are lucky enough to not have it broadcast for, and sold to, the whole of America.

Back when Brit Brit Spear’s crazy was out in the open (those were the days), she shot a video for Gimme More that was financed with a couple of WIC coupons. It was the video where Brit looked like a professional twat shaker who accepts Camel cash and bags of Hot Fries as tips. Well, the News of the World claims these are “NEVER BEFORE SEEN” pictures of Brit from that video with her uncensored Cheetoronis out. It’s Cheeto vu for me, because I feel like I’ve seen this before. Or maybe I’m just confusing Brit Brit’s chichi knobs with the roasted corn salad I had last week. Herm.

It was a smart move for Brit to cover up her nipples with those classy fake rose tattoos. It just makes the whole look much more elegant and sophisticated. Ka-dooz to Brit for that!
