Want to see the best in snowfall creations? Come to New Jersey, where we don’t merely make snowmen and igloos when faced with a foot of good packing snow. Uh uh. We get down and dirty. Or artistic. Depending on your point of view.

The latest (no, not the first) is the Venus de Milo in Rahway. (Or is it Jenna Jameson without limbs?) Either way you look at it, no one can say it’s not freaking good.

Sex addiction is a feminist victory. – By Hanna Rosin – Slate Magazine

Tiger Woods
Image via Wikipedia

When Tiger Woods checked himself into the Gentle Path sex addiction clinic, many women writers and activists reacted with suspicion and rancor. Lemondrop asked if the treatment is “merely a way for philandering men to pay lip service to their outraged wives?” Tracy Clark-Flory of Salon found the diagnosis “nothing short of maddening.” A group of female protesters in Australia showed up at a golf tournament carrying photos of Tiger with a purple pimp hat and a scepter, implying a certain winking noblesse oblige. Our own Amanda Marcotte wondered whether Woods had a disease or a “fairly typical set of attitudes about women coupled with a lot of opportunities.” Or, as she succinctly put it, are celebrities such as Woods who rack up the mistresses ” ‘addicts’? Or just pigs?”

It's hard, admittedly, to sympathize with a man who asks his mistress to change her voice mail because his wife has stolen his phone. Especially when that man is a millionaire golfer who has profited from his clean, good-boy image. But with some historical distance, the situation seems less suspect. Not so long ago, there was no easy way at all to publicly shame a celebrity pig or even any ordinary pig. The term “sex addict” does some of that work, and its introduction into the psychiatric idiom could be considered an important moment in feminist history. Suddenly, certain brutish behaviors that used to be overlooked were exiled as abnormal. And in the clinical literature, the word promiscuous came to primarily describe not hysterical women but rather predatory men.

The term “sex addict” was popularized in the late 1970s, when Patrick Carnes, who founded the Gentle Path clinic, published Out of the Shadows: Understanding Sexual Addiction. The book opens with a description Woods would find painfully familiar: the moment when every addict must admit his life is out of control because a “squad car has pulled into the driveway and you know why they’ve come,” and now millions are reading the “steamy news accounts.” The book’s first example is “Del,” a dastardly combination of Roger Sterling and Eliot Spitzer. Del is a lawyer who slept with his secretary and her boss at the same time. He “exploited relationships,” Carnes laments. He stalked women on the street. Carnes lays on the kind of scolding that would earn him applause if he were a guest on The View. No, you cannot tell someone you love her just so you can go to bed with her. No, you cannot tell her you love her if you love two other people as well.

Impromptu billboard porn film stops traffic – Yahoo! News

Pornographic film set.
Image via Wikipedia

MOSCOW (Reuters) – An enormous television screen showing a pornographic film caused a midnight traffic jam in central Moscow Thursday as stunned motorists slammed on the brakes to gawk at the writhing naked bodies.

The owner of the advertising screen, which sits atop a main road about two km (1.2 miles) south of the Kremlin, told the state-run RIA news agency that hackers had broken into the screen’s computer system and turned on the porn.

“They were either acting out of hooliganism or were from a rival company,” Viktor Laptev, commercial director of advertising firm Panno.ru, told RIA.

Let’s make 2010 the year of no sex scandals – Salon

From Bill Clinton to Tiger Woods, we've spent too much time shocked — shocked! — that famous people stray.

By Gene Lyons

Now that the annual holiday drinking…um, party season is almost over and many are vowing never to do anything like that again—certainly not in a supply closet, anyway—here’s my idea for a national New Year’s resolution: How about we declare a moratorium on celebrity sex scandals?

No, I’m not a Tiger Woods fan. Golf? I’d rather watch “Strongman” contests featuring mesomorphs named “Lars” hoisting Volvos, or full-contact gardening. Please spare me those e-mails about how difficult golf is. So’s pushing a peanut across Nebraska with your nose. To me, golf’s a waste of good pasture. The end.

But think about it: 2010, the year without sanctimony. No preposterous alibis, stammering confessions, humiliated spouses, no heartbroken mistresses vamping on “Entertainment Tonight,” no think pieces entitled “Why Do Politicians Cheat?” or “Can Rehab Save Tiger?” Make Larry King and Oprah talk about something else for a change.

Boca Madam Tied to Tiger and Rothstein – Broward Palm Beach News – The Daily Pulp: Bob Norman’s Blog

Tiger Woods

Question from a commenter: Is there was a connection between Scott Rothstein and Tiger Woods.

braunmichelle1.jpg

Michelle Braun

Answer from the Pulp: Of course there is. It comes in the form of Michelle Braun, a notorious “madam” who once supplied Hollywood (the one in California) and South Florida with a bevy of beautiful, high-priced prostitutes from her base in Boca Raton.

Braun recently boasted to the New York Daily News that Woods was a regular client and even identified his favorite call girl (a Playboy bunny). While facing federal criminal charges in California recently, she was represented by none other than the law firm of Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler. Her criminal attorney was Marc Nurik, the same lawyer now representing Rothstein on his federal racketeering, money laundering, and fraud charges.

Braun also used Rothstein’s firm to help her open several Florida corporations, with names like The Girls of Ocean Drive LLC, Dirty Vodka LLC, and the BlueJean Mafia Management. Braun’s lawyer in those endeavors was RRA attorney Kari Rosenfeld, whose representation of Braun predated that of Nurik’s (and whose tiny photograph is at left). The companies’ corporate addresses were listed under the same address Rothstein used for many of his corporations in Tallahassee.

In case you thought the story couldn't get dirtier

By Mary Elizabeth Williams

Perhaps the one surprise left in the ongoing, slow motion, almost guaranteed to end in divorce court disaster that is the Tiger Woods scandal is that it’s taken this long to turn it into a porn movie. Maybe it’s because this story came with porn stars pre-installed.

While Holly Sampson revealed recently that her own adult version of the Tiger tale is “in the works,” Adam & Eve Pictures are already on the job with an”official” porn parody, under the inevitable title “Tiger’s Wood.”

– FOXNews.com

Welcome to the world of the VIP host – also known as a concierge, marketing director, point person, or, depending on who you ask, celebrity pimp.

It’s 4 a.m. in Hollywood. One of the hottest night clubs in town is about to close, when the concierge gets a text message.

A famous TV actor is on his way with his entourage. He wants the club to stay open. He also wants four bottles of exotic tequila, extra security, drugs, and a minimum of 10 curvy brunettes up for a “good time.”

Tiger Woods nails our culture – Salon.com

Tiger Woods
Image via Wikipedia

It’s somehow fitting that in the waning days of this decade, we find ourselves glued — yet again — to the spectacle of a tarnished public figure embroiled in a sex scandal. Congratulations, 2000s — has there been a sleazier era since Caligula’s?

The Tiger Woods debacle, which started with a fender bender and possible domestic dispute and grows more absurdly, endorsement-losingly epic by the hour, serves not just as a reminder that even seemingly unimpeachable heroes get their freak on but also as a flamboyantly cringe-worthy metaphor for our quick and dirty culture itself.

What’s fascinating about Tiger’s undoing isn’t his wandering eye or his apparently bottomless sexual appetite (although there’s rich cocktail patter in both) but the stark contrast between his demure Scandinavian wife and the parade of Hooters girls, porn stars and possible professional escorts who’ve come out of the woodwork. In this corner, there’s Elin Nordegren, the press-shy model and mother of Woods’ two young children. And in this rather crowded other corner, there’s Holly Sampson, star of “OMG, Stop Tickling Me” and “Flying Solo 2.” There’s cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, who is currently “shopping around” her torrid story to networks. There’s lingerie model Jamie Jungers, who claims to have been romping with Woods in his marital bed the night his father died. There’s Mindy Lawton, who eagerly told the News of the World about the “rough” sex she had with the “well-endowed” athlete. And, at last count, 12 other women who may have been on the receiving end of the golf pro’s legendary stroke.

Poll finds sexting common among young people – Yahoo! News

Sexting

WASHINGTON – Think your kid is not “sexting“? Think again.

Sexting — sharing sexually explicit photos, videos and chat by cell phone or online — is fairly commonplace among young people, despite sometimes grim consequences for those who do it. More than a quarter of young people have been involved in sexting in some form, an Associated Press-MTV poll found.

That includes Sammy, a 16-year-old from the Bay Area who asked that his last name not be used.

Broadsheet – Salon.com

By Kate Harding

In a recent episode of the new TV series “Glee,” the high school glee club at the heart of the show put on, as Heather Havrilesky described it, “a hilariously lewd and dorky rendition of Salt ‘n’ Pepa’s ‘Push It’” during an assembly. (The show’s writers have yet to produce a better line than ever-indignant cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester’’s response: “That was the most offensive thing I’ve seen in 20 years of teaching. And that includes an elementary school production of ‘Hair.’”) The performance is cooked up by the kids behind their advisor’s back as an alternative to his song pick, Chic’s “Le Freak” — which has become old-fashioned, unsexy guaranteed humiliation for the modern teen — to give their fellow students “what they want: Sex.”

Although “Glee” has been rightfully called out for getting a lot of things wrong (e.g., treating a wheelchair-using character as a comedic prop, too often reinforcing negative stereotypes while ostensibly sending them up), teen sexuality is one thing it consistently gets right, even within an over-the-top, credulity-straining universe. The pregnant celibacy club president is only the most obvious example of the show’s unapologetic acknowledgment that teenagers (even the girls!) think about sex, want sex, have sex when they get the opportunity — and, left to their own devices, come up with hilariously lewd and dorky choreography.

Back in the real world, though, dirty dancing among minors is still seen as the outrageous result of popular culture that’s just gone too far. The L.A. Times reports today on high schools that are forcing students to sign contracts agreeing not to dance in a sexually suggestive manner before they’ll be allowed into a low-lit streamered gym on a Friday night. The kids, they like this “freaking” that comes from that terrible hip-hop culture! It must be stopped! Few parents and administrators seem to find any humor in the fact that we’ve been having the same national conversation for at least a few generations now.
