Michael Precker was a seasoned foreign correspondent and family man, “the last guy anyone would have expected to become the manager of a topless joint.” The job just seemed more sane than journalism.

Precker was mentioned in a Wall Street Journal health column Tuesday. Today, the business paper took a longer look at his new career for its “Running a Business” column.

The Dallas Morning News reporter decided to switch careers after running into the owner of a local strip club at a charity event. She offered him a management job. He blew off the idea at first, but changed his mind after an unsatisfying reporting trip to Israel:

A New Jersey judge has revealed the secret to calling someone a “douchebag”: Make it clear you’re just kidding! That’s why the Honorable Menelaos Toskos cleared the author of Hot Chicks With Douchebags of defamation.

Jay Louis, the creator of hotchickswithdouchebags.com, turned his blog documenting the couplings of attractive ladies with unattractive men into a book in 2007. He was sued, first by three of the hot chicks in question, and then by one of the douchebags.

Toskos, a New Jersey Superior Court judge, ruled that the women’s photographs were “used for humorous social commentary” and that the book was “replete with obvious attempts at satirical humor.” In his decision, he wrote that he had “carefully scrutinized” the work in question. We bet. The sad part of Toskos’s decision: It comes too late to redeem the tired insult of “douchebag.”

Eroticism is in the eye of the beholder. In Japan, some women turn to electrically charged squid for sexual satisfaction. In the American world of masochism, one man begged to be tied on a spit and roasted over sizzling coals. His counterpart, a latex-loving dominatrix, reached ecstasy merely watching his pain.

What is abnormal may not necessarily be unnatural, according to sexologists who study the outer limits of the human psyche.

And, increasingly, as seen in a plethora of new books and films — not to mention thousands of sites on the Internet — kinky sex is getting more attention.

No election cycle is complete without a porn star candidate.

Fans of Stormy Daniels got the ball rolling early for 2010 with the launch of DraftStormy.com, a website designed to encourage Daniels to take on Republican Louisiana Sen. David Vitter.

The effort may have been tongue-in-cheek. But Politico chatted with Daniels for our inaugural Politico Podcast, and she sounded downright enthusiastic about a Senate bid.

“I think it sounds great,” said Daniels. “I said I wanted to take over the world and I guess ‘senator’ is a good place to start, right? … I’ve been handed a golden opportunity and I should take advantage of it.”

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Forty percent of U.S. workers have dated an office colleague, with 31 percent of them going on to marriage, according to a survey released on Tuesday.

Ten percent work with someone they would like to date and 18 percent have dated a co-worker twice or more at some time in their careers, the office romance survey for online job website CareerBuilder.com showed.

Those eyeing a co-worker was skewed between the sexes, with 14 percent of men but just 5 percent of women saying they would like to date a colleague.

Romance blooms at the office, U.S. survey says.
